I’ve been going wild online the past few months, streaming 3–5 hour live sets throughout the week while hanging out with friends, fam, and a bunch of dope new fans online.
It’s been a pretty magical journey so far, and it’s come to my attention that a lot of people who dig my music didn’t even know I was doing this. (My fault entirely; promo is a whole beast.) HENCE, I’m sending this message to those who’ve supported this project on Bandcamp (and whoever else finds this blog post).
I was gaining tons of views streaming on TikTok (more than I could even truly handle), but I’ve recently moved over to Patreon as it is less exploitative & better for ALL OF OUR nervous systems. It’s never quick & easy getting people to move from one casino ahh addictive gamified app over to one that’s more supportive for artists & fans, but here we are. Could I keep streaming on TikTok, playing their game? Sure. But I saw behind the curtain, and I refuse to ignore that to make sit right with me. I didn’t choose the lifelong path of being an artist to sell out and cave to a predatory company.
And the livestream is really just the beginning. Patreon has given me a place to share the parts of this project that don't really fit anywhere else. Depending on the tier, you'll find unreleased demos, dubplates, behind-the-scenes bits, ways to request IDs, live summonings, and other little surprises. It feels a lot more like inviting people into my creative world than just posting on the internet, and I love that.
I’m awestruck by the community as a result of the livestream. Everyone is so lovely, creative, funny, and kind. We have truly created a magical, safe, and fun space on the internet together, which blows my mind. I’m so grateful & inspired. A bit about the livestream: I perform my original music, mix in my selections, improvise vocals, flute, and chat with y’all. Sometimes you guys summon me to rip a flute solo while I’m DJing some insane neuro DnB and I’m like OKAYYY LETS GO. Then other times, I’m summoned by you guys to improvise a word into a song on the spot that touches the deepest parts of my heart. Music is magic, and no one can tell me otherwise. ✨
I’m truly grateful to walk the path of music in this life. With so much fake stuff out there these days, I’m pretty pumped and proud to be a real, human artist, doing real, live, human stuff (& fairy stuff).
